No photos, unfortunately, and the taxi ride to the restaurant reminded me to get the camera out and take some nice night photos.
Our dinner was at a lovely restaurant adjacent to the Duomo. The interior was vaulted and covered with the remnants of frescoes, one featuring a fellow who is the father of the Italian language. The building itself is a museum, it simply houses the restaurant. The restaurant furnishings were modern but warm. We had an elegant and lovely meal -- for Tom an appetiser of ragu of lamb over a pasta like fusilli but larger, and for me a pumpkin souffle. We shared the main course, a Florentine steak, for which they are famous, which was plenty for two, a thin steak grilled and served with canneloni beans, spinach and broccoli. Dessert was a "mojito" cream with disks of browned sugar.
And, since the staff was ready to close as we chatted until midnight, we walked to the Hotel Savoy for a drink befor the taxi home.
Careful -- we could get used to this!
