HERMITAGE CHANDELIERS

Now we're talking chandeliers!  Every room we went into had a different chandelier, and sometimes several versions of the same style in a single room.  If we ever go back, I'll concentrate on sconces, although we did not even begin to scratch the surface on the chandelier front.

ST. PETERSBURG CHANDELIERS...

...were even more magnificent than those in Moscow, or perhaps we were visiting places more chandelier-worthy.

Peter and Paul Church.

The theater for the performance of national song and dance.

Peterhof.  Yes, sconces, all of them.  What Catherine the Great skimped on here in the chandelier department, no doubt because of the painted ceilings, was more than made up for in the Hermitage.

The new Mariinsky.

Church of Christ of the Spilled Blood.

The old Marrinsky lobby.

In the theater.

The Hermitage deserves its own post, coming up soon!
