After our arrival chez Jeanne, we planned our itinerary. We started with an outing to Clisson, near Nantes, to visit the 11th Century chateau, more like a fortress.
Frm the chateau's excellent vantage, we could see across the river, to the gardens associated with it.
There was a variety of architectural details from different eras. The photo below shows the fireplaces on different floors of a building long gone.
It was hot and our intrepid band was wilting.
Taking shelter whenever possible.
Then we sped off across the river for a visit to the gardens.
The centerpiece of the gardens is a museum, which today featured the work of a visiting artist.
Looking back at the Clisson chateau across the river.
Whew!
