The Vendee: Jar sur Mer

We left for Paris for a week in the Vendee, to visit Jeanne and her sister Anne at La Gite.

On our first day we went to Jar sur Mer, a favorite coastal resort town, to enjoy our annual lunch of moule frites.

The tide was, ahem, out.

Jet Lagged in Paris

A couple of days after our arrival we had lunch a Le Coq Rico.  The desserts were above and beyond.  A vacherin with basil and raspberry sorbets, a pot du creme, and Tom's trio of ice creams.

Paris Encore!

Our annual fall visit to France started in late August.  We spent a few days recovering from jet lag, and squeezed in a visit to the Musee Carnavalet for an exhibit about Napoleon and his relationship to Paris.
Naturally, no photos of the Napoleon expo...but, a few of the museum itself and its permanent collection.

We learned at the expo that in Napoleon's time this statue had been at the top of the column at the Bastille.

The it was time to say goodbye to Paris and take the train to the Vendee.
