The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson. Hard to categorize -- multiple mysteries, lots of characters, several strong plotlines. Excellent.

Florence of Arabia, by Christopher Buckley. Hilarious adventures of a feminist in fictitious middle eastern country.
Renegade, by Richard Wolffe. Misses being "Making of A President 2008", but an interesting read.
