Of our travel books we used Rick Steves Provence and the DK Top Ten Guide; we took along Michelin and the DK larger guide but never used them. We also took the new Pudlo guide to hotels and restaurants. We had used it to find a couple hotels, and we used it once to find a restaurant in Nice.
In New England we took the DK guide but found it almost useless. We kidnapped Martha's Fodor, which was excellent; we used it every day for almost everything from restaurants to hotels to sights to see.
