Day 6: Bamburg Germany

Another day, another few locks...

The decks were cleared for passing under low bridges.

Not much clearance.  Really.
These are the railings on either side of the ship.  So, not much clearance.
And then it was off to Bamburg.

The first sight was from the spot the bus dropped us off -- the Messerschmidt Hotel,  established by the family of the German fighter plane designer.

As we walked toward the old town, we stumbled across more stumbling stones.

We crossed a bridge from the workingman's part of the old town to the more aristocratic side, where would would find the cathedral and the bishop-prince's residence.

Back in the day, the elite and the working class could not agree on which side of the river to locate city hall.  So, being pragmatic to a fault, they located it in the middle of the river.

The palace and church were at the top of a hill.

The gardens were lovely, with views of the town.

And now, a stop for beer before the bus to the ship.
