Day 7: Nuremberg Germany, Continental Divide

Our first stop in Nuremberg was the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, which have been left in place to decay.  The grounds themselves are used to concerts and large gatherings, but the parade ground area we walked through has been allowed to deteriorate.
Our second stop was the courthouse where the Nuremberg trials were held.

From there we climbed the hill in our bus, and began the walk down through the walled portion of the city to the main square.

When we left the walled town for the old area of the more modern city, we saw the local architecture, along with the clever way of adding on a few extra square feet and what must be charming seating area.  The property owners take these bay windows with them when they move!

When we got to the main church square, a market was selling produce, with an emphasis on asparagus, white being the most desirable.

The main attraction of the square is the city hall, where a clock performs intricate movements, with the figures marching around the king while musicians play.

We returned to the ship for another series of locks leading to the Main-Danube Canal and the continental divide.

Another tight fit.

After the lock we sailed along the canal, which in this place is elevated over a freeway, a very odd feeling to be sailing above while cars pass below the ship.

 Low bridge.
 The canal.
We approach, then pass,  the continental divide.
