MOSCOW DAY 2: THE BOLSHOI

The highlight of Day 2 was a performance of Romeo and Juliet by the Bolshoi Ballet.  So ew returned to Theater Square, this time in dressier clothes.

Among the adults were lots of children, most of whom were dressed up far more than their parents.

The halls outside the tiers of seats; the entrances to the seats were locked until a few minutes before the performance began.
Seeing as we had some time on our hands, we headed for the bar, where a glass of champagne will set you back $40.

The theater itself is gold and red, whether photographed in available light, or with a flash....

Above and below -- the Imperial Box.

The ceiling with the various muses.

No photos during the performance, but when the curtain wnet down, the cameras came out.
And then, so did we, into the much less opulent lobby.
And then the sunny, very warm afternoon,

with kids doing what all kids do.

And we got back into the bus!
