MOSCOW DAY 3: YELISEYEVSKY STORE

But Day 3 was not over!  The assembled multitudes voted unanimously (I think, we were in the front of the bus, so there could have been a dissenter or two) to make another stop -- Yeliseyesky, a delightful art deco-style deli, chock full of delicacies -- caviar, cheeses, sausages, hams.  I looked for Russian tea, and found several impressive tins and boxes festooned with Cyrillic words, only to discover that the source of the tea was either London or Paris.  Tom and Eda made a pact, with Eda buying two tins of caviar and Tom getting a bottle of vodka.  The joke was on them, however -- when they finally opened the tins, they were sturgeon meat, not eggs...but the vodka was, well, vodka....

(sorry about that -- from inside the bus...)

The detailing was exquisite.

And you could buy a chicken:

But the day was not over yet....
