Our second Sunday stop was the Institut de France, a group of five academies, of which the Academie Francaise is the most famous. They are the Immortels, who patrol the French language to eject non-French words, preserving the language. They are the folks who replaced "computeur" with "l'ordinateur". Note the last photo -- the cute outfits they wear when they make their pronouncements.
The Institute has several buildings within its compound, of which two were open to us -- the Academie itself, and the library. A difference kind of opulence from what we had been seeing, but impressive all the same.
